Let law take its course about probe in financial maladministration - MEC

2016-04-27 06:00

ALLOW the law to take its course.

This is the only thing that MEC for Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube was prepared to say about the ongoing probe into financial maladministration in Msunduzi Municipality on Friday during her budget speech.

iThe department announced the probe into the municipality last month, just months after it had awarded the embattled municipal manager Mxolisi Nkosi with the Municipal Manager of the Year Award after the municipality had achieved its first clean audit.

NFP member Njabulo Mlaba said the timing of the probe was suspicious.

“It happened straight after the ANC provincial conference. MEC your powers must not be misused,” he said.

DA member George Mari said “the ANC faction fight was making the municipality ungovernable”. — WR.
