A YOUNG author, Ayanda Mchunu, says it has always been his dream to write and publish a book.

Mchunu, who is originally from Pietermaritzburg but now lives in Durban, has recently launched his first book, titled Bengithi ngizigwaze ngowami.

Speaking to Echo, Mchunu said he started writing the book in 2017 but only published it this year.

“I did not have the funds at the time to publish the book and my family could not help me since I come from a poor background,” he said.

Mchunu said the book explores problems that married couples face and oustide interference in marriages , which then leads to divorce.

He said he has witnessed many divorces and this inspired him to write the book.

“The aim of my book is to bring back hope to people who think negative things about marriage because of the problem you hear married people face. I also want to encourage those who are already married to focus on their marriage and forget about outsiders.

“They must do what makes them happy and put their family first at all times because at the end of the day people will always have something to say whether you are doing good or bad,” he said.

Mchunu said he started writing when he was 15 years old and he has a collection of poems that he never had a chance to recite.

“I love writing. After writing poems I started reading books and I got inspired to start writing a book and I did.

I am busy with my poetry book now which I am going to release soon. I took all the poems that I wrote when I started and compiled them together and added new poems as well.

“I am so excited about the release of this book. It’s like a dream come true.

I hope that people will enjoy it and that they will learn a few things from it,” said Mchunu.
