THE organisers of the Chilla Nathi Cookout Experience have confirmed that the event is set to sizzle on October 28. The event will be hosted at the Botanical Gardens in Pietermaritzburg, starting from 10 am until 9 pm. The Chilla Nathi Cookout Experience promises to be an unforgettable outdoor experience for the whole family. The event is a market setup which enables businesses in the food, fashion, arts, craft, accessories, beverages and fresh produce to trade. Patrons are going to be spoilt for choice as businesses from the mentioned categories will showcase and sell their products. Music will also be the order of the day as live bands and DJ’s will keep the visitors entertained throughout the event. The Chilla Nathi Cookout Experience recently announced that they will be moving to the Botanical Gardens, which will be their permanent venue. The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) went into an agreement with Chilla Nathi Concepts, (the company that owns the concept) to host the event at their premises after recognising the growth of the event and how it contributed to the local economic development. Sbonga Shelembe, who is one of the organisers, confirmed the partnership and stated that they were excited by the move as it will allow patrons to enjoy themselves in a relaxed and secure environment. “This will also ensure that our event is hosted monthly without disturbances as it is no longer in a contested space,” he added. Other news worth mentioning is that the Chilla Nathi Cookout Experience has joined the green movement. This follows their recently formed partnership with the Wildlands Trust on their #GOGREEN initiative.#GOGREEN is a waste management plan that offers a sustainable solution to collecting waste generated during events. This means that Wildlands will be educating people on recycling, and how they can assist the event to reduce its environmental footprint. Recycling stations will be set up at strategic points at the event where people will access them to dispose of their waste. All the waste will be separated and recycled at the Wildlands recycling depot in Howick. The gates will open from 10am and tickets cost R40 at the gate.
