THE plan was only to attend and observe the Miss Pinetown Teen pageant on Saturday, but the plot thickened later that day for Bandile Kabamba, who was crowned the winner.Bandile (12) from Northdale, who is under Hoyt Model Management, told Maritzburg Fever that it wasn’t her intention to enter the pageant - she just wanted to see how things are done in big pageant. “I didn’t train. I didn’t do anything, it just happened that when I got there I was told to enter, and I did.“I was shocked when I heard that I had won. “I didn’t expect to win but I was secretly hoping to. I am so excited I managed to win at such a big pageant because many model from KwaZulu-Natal took part.” Bandile started modelling at the age of eight and is happy with her progress thus far.She is also a finalist in Miss Junior uShaka Marine 2017 and the Miss Elite South Africa 2018 that is to be held in March 2018. Her father, Sanlim Kabamba, said they have always seen potential in Bandile since she was young.“We saw that she likes the camera so we then allowed her to do modelling. “We also saw confidence in her and since she started her modelling journey her confidence has grown.“We support her in everything she does and are very proud of her,” said Sanlim.Her father said Bandile has been featured in adverts and catalogues. He said Bandile recently appeared in a Mr Price catalogue and has also modelled in catalogues for Ideals and The Hub.
