Madsa seeks donations

2018-07-18 06:01

HAVING already distributed up to 600 school shoes across Pietermaritzburg in 2017, Chan Naidoo, the founding member of Make a Difference South Africa (Madsa) is looking to collect another 600 more school shoes to distribute once again to those who need them the most in Pietermaritzburg.

•Welfare and humanitarian activities;

•Education and developmental activities; and

•Health care activities.

“Our objectives are achieved primarily through focused initiatives led by the organisation which delivers support to children, youth and other vulnerable members of our communities,” said Naidoo.

Having completed many other charitable acts, Madsa notably embarked on an initiative in 2016 whereby they provided re-usable sanitary products to school-going young girls who could not afford to purchase the specific products and in 2017 made it their goal to provide school shoes to disadvantaged learners which they have carried up to 2018.

“Last year we distributed in excess of 600 pairs in Pietermaritzburg and plan to get another 600 more to the Pietermaritzburg areas,” said Naidoo.

Naidoo said that the success of the project is evidenced by the numerous messages by way of hand-written notes they had received from pupils as well as the respective schools.

“The impact of these initiatives have had far-reaching positive outcomes for the communities we targeted,” said Nai- doo.

The plan to provide up to 600 school shoes for disadvantaged learners needs the support of the Pietermaritzburg public which Naidoo is appealing to for any sort of donation.

“We plan to get to a further 600 leaners in Pietermaritzburg but [we] will appreciate the support of PMB residents or readers,” said Naidoo.
