THE Liberty Midlands Mall, owned by Liberty Two Degrees and Liberty Group Limited, has announced the launch of it’s new retail phase, taking the freedom of shopping choice and variety to over 200 stores.The retail gem of the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands had already established itself as a popular retail destination across the Pietermaritzburg area prior to the introduction of the third retail phase. The launch of phase three has taken the mall from 56 000m2, to 78 000m2 of retail and leisure space. Liberty Midlands Mall has combined locally inspired designs and trends with its diverse tenant mix of fashion, food and leisure, appealing to millions of shoppers each year. The mall’s new retail phase offers an open-air dining and shopping space. “Liberty Midlands Mall puts various ways of living in the forefront by catering to a range of differing lifestyles. With the introduction of our newest retail section, we have strengthened our position in the area”, said Brian Unsted, asset management executive for Liberty Midlands Mall at Liberty Two Degrees. Outdoor, and overlooking a Pietermaritzburg forest, Liberty Midlands Mall invites its shoppers to dine with a view in the new alfresco-style piazza, which includes the likes of restaurants RocoMamas, Mozambiq and The Daily Coffee Café. The centre is anchored by a new Checkers store and a substantially bigger Woolworths store provides both a larger food component for shoppers and an additional textiles offering.Liberty Midlands Mall has also introduced an array of home décor and furniture stores. The likes of Mattress King and Leather Gallery have taken their posts in the mall’s new retail phase while @Home Livingspace, Coricraft, Rochester and Volpes are new additions.The new retail space’s second anchor tenant is Planet Fitness. Toy Kingdom and Build-A-Bear Workshop Inc. are also new, along with Pizza Hut, Cell Plus, Crazy Store, Checkers Liquor, Gadget Paradise, Midlands Laser Clinic, Just Plastics, Bargain Books, Absolute Pets and Arthur Ford.— Supplied.
