MARITZBURG United believes that this season will be a different one and they will take it head on.

The Team of Choice said that they are prepared to take the so-called “big boys” or “giants” on in order to fight for honours.

The Zimbabwean-born and ace striker Evans Rusike says their new campaign started on a positive note and things are looking bright for the rest of the season.

Rusike feels his head coach Ernst Middendorp is one of the best coaches in the country, he’s a hard worker, disciplinarian and wants everybody to deliver.

“We are lucky to have a coach like him. We also understand he wants us to win and which is good mentality. Nowadays soccer is about tough competition and winning,” said Rusike.

Rusike says his team will also need to stay level-headed and play hard to earn points in the next fixtures.

“It’s still early days, but we started very well. We need to stay focused, not to be carried away and just take each game as it comes,” said Rusike.

On Saturday at 6pm the Team of Choice will face Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium.

This week AmaKhosi may be taken as one of the Gauteng Giants, but they are beatable and won’t be allowed to be pushed around.

“It won’t be an easy game for us because it’s an away game, and a home one to them, but we are not going there as a ship ready to be sunk. We are going there to play and bring back maximum points,”said Rusike.
