Maritzburg United’s chances slip

2019-03-27 06:01

MARITZBURG United’s troubles throughout the season have continued to compound after they saw their closest relegation rivals move further away from the bottom spot, while United have lost both their games in the previous week.

United are now seven points behind Free State Stars and remain four points behind nearest relegation rivals Baroka FC and Chippa United.

Free State Stars managed to climb into 13th spot by beating AmaZulu 4-1 on the weekend, leaving Maritzburg United boss Farook Kadodia to realise the troubling times his club faces.

“The result was a huge surprise — we did not expect AmaZulu to make so many mistakes in that match and now we are left to chase three or four points with so few matches left. It is a tough situation we find ourselves in,” said Kadodia.

The team will play their next match on April 5 against Bloemfontein Celtic at the Harry Gwala stadium.

Players have returned to training after enjoying a break.
