MUSICIAN “Mampintsha” was given a cold reception at the Cubaña night club in the city at the weekend.

A video of the artist Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo allegedly assaulting his partner Bongekile “Babes Wodumo” Simelane went viral a few weeks ago.

A new video taken on Saturday night shows a rowdy crowd at Cubaña — which is at the Invesco Centre in Chatterton Road — demanding that Mampitsha leave.

A group of men are seen confronting Mampintsha, and there is also a bit of pushing and shoving.

Other revellers are heard shouting “khona iz’ngane layindlini” which means “there are children in the house”, which is what he had said to Babes while allegedly hitting her on the video. The crowd eventually calmed down and Mampintsha was allowed to stay for a few drinks in a separate lounge.

Many took to Twitter to voice their views on the incident.

Squbu SaseMphithi said “Mampintsha went to the Cubaña in Pietermaritzburg and was chased away by the men and women. Make social spaces uncomfortable for abusers until justice is served!”

Liam Setadi said “Nothing more exciting than seeing a video of Mampintsha being kicked out of Cubana in PMB. This is the S.A. I wanna see.”
