AFTER becoming the Mrs Tourism Ambassador 2017 last month Ntombifuthi Gumede has decided to mentor the youth of Pietermaritzburg and Dur-ban.

Gumede from Inanda, also Mrs Tourism Africa 2017, said she will be doing the mentorship via her modelling agency, Posh Model Management, which she recently launched in Durban.

Gumede told Maritzburg Fever the idea of opening the agency came when she started getting calls from youngsters who needed mentorship.

“It started with one girl from Pietermaritzburg and one boy from Durban North, who I was mentoring. When I came back from the Mrs Tourism World pageant in the Philippines, I already had four people, who also wanted me to mentor them.

“I then decided to accommodate everyone and uplift the youth of KwaZulu-Natal.

“I want them to be prepared to deal with different situations as they grow up. This is not just a modelling agency where you are taught how to walk and how to smile, I will be teaching the youngsters about life and give them lessons of life.

“I will also be teaching them about different careers and how to choose them carefully.

“I want to give back to the community as a way of thanking them for the support they have given me over my past 20 years in modelling.

“On Saturdays I will host the Pietermaritzburg youths and on Sundays I will be in Durban. These children are our future and it is our job to guide them as they grow up.”

The mentorship programme starts in January 2018.
