THE new Mr PMB 2017, Samuel Jackson from Northdale, wants to be a role model to children and the youth of Pietermaritzburg.

Jackson (21) was crowned on Saturday at the Imperial Hotel with the new Miss PMB 2017, Nonhle Masuku from Imbali.

He told Maritzburg Fever he did not expect to win, but winning has motivated him to have confidence.

“When I entered the pageant I expected to at least come second. This has motivated me to become a better person because there was a time when I felt I had lost myself.

“I want to rebuild myself and live up to everything I said I would do. I want to be an example to others. I want to continue being a gentleman other people look up to.”

Jackson said since winning the title he wants to contribute to the community and bring about change.

“This is not only about winning the title, it is also about what you can do to bring change in your community.
“We are all born to make a change and a contribution in life. I want to make people happy with my contribution as I am about to embark on a journey of charity work for my people,” he said. Masuku said she is excited about winning the title as she did not expect to.

“I have been entering pageants to improve my skills in modelling because I cannot afford to go to a modelling agency.

“My hard work has finally paid off. This will give me an opportunity to reach out to the youth of Pietermaritzburg and motivate them about life and how important education is because I am passionate about education.”
