MAMA Ntombi Community Projects pre-school children, mostly consisting of those living in underprivileged settlements such as Ezinketheni, were treated to a fun-filled day last Tuesday, April 9, at the Varsity College grounds.

Organised by the student relations manager at Varsity College, Sonya Nursoo, the children were provided with various meals and snacks.

“We had a lovely Easter egg hunt around the campus which was guided and assisted by the wonderful VC volunteers who are students themselves as well as being part of the VC Cares team,” said project manager of MNCP, Sandra Pillay.

The day was completed with a jumping castle and informative story-telling session for the children who do not get to usually leave their rural areas.

Pillay said that each child was given a goodie bag on closing consisting of a woollen scarf, hat, a colouring book and crayons.

“Our children from Ezinketheni informal settlement do not get to go out often so this was a real wow experience for them and we are so thankful for those who made it happen,” said Pillay.
