“THE size of your body does not matter if you know what you doing and you are confident about it.”

These were the words of the first ever Capital Confidence queen, Nomcebo Khanyile.

Khanyile (24), from Shayamoya in Edendale, was crowned in Bisley recently.

Having been held for the first time this year, this pageant aims to give plus-sized models an opportunity to showcase their modelling skills and also boost their confidence.

Speaking to Echo, Khanyile said she is delighted about winning this first ever competition and applauded the organisers for making it happen for the plus-size models.

“I feel so honoured. What makes this win even more special is that it was the first competition for the plus-sized models in the city. I made history. I will always be in the books for winning such a competition,” she said.

When it comes to modelling, Khanyile says potential and confidence is more important than the size of a person.

“People will always have something negative to say about you just because you are a plus-sized model; you just need to ignore them and do your thing so that you can succeed. We are all different and we cannot be the same size.

“Accept yourself the way you are and do what you love and give it your all. That way you will go very far,” Khanyile said.
