AN 18-year-old model from Irene’s Models is seeking votes that will help her become a finalist in Miss Teenager South Africa 2019, which will be decided on May 18 in Johannesburg.

Eden Radebe from Woodlands became a semi-finalist after she went to the auditions in Johannesburg in February.

Speaking to Echo, Radebe said Irene’s Models helped her enter the competition. She said it is the first national pageant that she has entered since she started modelling in 2015.

“This is something big for me and I have a feeling that I am going to win it. I just need people to vote for me so that I am put throught to the finalists. I want to win and I am confident that I can win it.

“Winning this competition will mean a lot to me because I will get an opportunity to go overseas to represent my country. It will also give me an opportunity to talk about women empowerment among the youth and other women,” she said.

Radebe said she heard about the competition a day before the auditions and she had to pack and leave on the same day. “I was lucky that my mother has friends in Pretoria and they accommodated me. I am glad that everything worked out this way even though I did not have enough time to prepare for the auditions.”

She said she never thought that one day she would be in a big competition like this one and when she was growing up she never though she could become a model. “A lot of people tried to convince me to go into modelling but I was really not into it. They would ask me why I do not become a model because I have everything that is required and I would ignore them. One day I decided to go for it because I wanted to get them [people] off my back and it worked out and I started to love modelling,” she said.

To vote for Eden, SMS MTS Eden to 47439. SMS costs R3 and you can vote as often as you like. Voting lines close on April 14.
