MODEL Nokwanda Hlongwa, who was born and bred in KwaQanda, near Taylors Halt, has been chosen as one of the finalists for the Mr and Miss KZN Heroine and Heroes pageant that will take place at the Durban City Hall on December 14. The Grade 12 Mluntisi High School pupil will be representing Pietermaritzburg in this pageant that promotes and encourages beauty in all its forms. Speaking to Echo, Nokwanda said she is doing this for the people of PMB because she wants to put the City of Choice on the map.“I am so positive and I believe in myself. However, I will not be able to do it on my own as I need people to help me as I need to raise R1 000 sponsorship as part of the pageant requirements. I want to go there and make my city proud and that is why I am pleading with everyone to please assist me and also buy tickets for the main event.“I am so excited and nervous at the same time because this is a provincial competition and will have different models from across the province,” she said. Nokwanda said she started modelling in 2017 after a friend encouraged her to look into it because she said she had potential.“I no longer model for fun but it has become the part of my life. It helps me boost my confidence, learn different things, and also accept myself for the way that I am because I believe that I am unique in my own way,” said Nokwanda. To help Nokwanda, you can contact 083 502 2832 or send a WhatsApp to 065 336 1519. You can also help her win the Public Choice Award by going to the award’s Facebook page (Beauty comes in different forms) to like the page and her picture. The voting for this award will be open from October 4.Tickets for the main event are available at Computicket for R180 for general and R550 for VIP (includes food and drinks).
