PIETERMARITZBURG models made the city proud when they emerged victorious at the provincial Miss and Mr Dream Chasers 2019/2020 pageant that was held on Saturday in KwaNdengezi. Xoliswa Majola (21) from Nkanyezini was declared Miss Philanthropist and Thabiso Mkhize was crowned Mr Dream Chasers KZN King at the event. Speaking to Echo, Majola, who is a third-year Human Resource Management student at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, said this was her first provincial competition. She said she started modelling at the age of five but, prior to this event, she had only ever entered local pageants.“This is big for me and I am so excited. I want to use this title to change people’s lives. I believe that there is a lot that I can do to help young children and the youth so that they can stay away from drugs and alcohol.“I recently started hosting Saturday classes, where I teach mannerism and etiquette to children under the age of 15 and about the challenges of life. I don’t want them to make bad choices,” she said. Majola said that her dream is to one day be crowned Miss South Africa so that she can bring about change in the world.Mkhize said this pageant was a big opportunity for him as he is always chasing his dreams.“Winning this pageant will give me an opportunity to do outreach projects to encourage those that are still following their dreams and cherishing them to know that anything is possible if you don’t lose hope,” he said, adding that he is passionate about modelling and that is why entered this competition.“Although the competition was tough, I had an amazing experience. I got to meet different people in the modelling industry from all over the province and got a chance to showcase my talent as well,” he ended.
