MELISSA Vurovecz, from Hilton, was crowned the RoleModels Foundation Mrs KZN over the weekend, beating out various competitors to win the coveted title at the Chantecler Hotel on March 30.

Speaking to the Maritzburg Fever about her success, Vurovecz said that she chose to enter the pageant because she saw a platform on which she could make a difference in peoples lives, especially those who struggle to survive daily.

“I was inspired by the pageant in that we had to raise money for the foundation by selling poverty lollipops and collecting food items to be donated to the poor,” said Vurovecz, who added that to win she also had to pass an interview round that was followed by a glamorous red carpet evening finale.

Married for eight years, Vurovecz runs a graphic design and image consulting business from home while also raising two children, who the super mom says have grown up being taught to work hard, have integrity, be teachable and lastly help others in need at any opportunity they can.

“We have a family code that we live by and try and instil in our children,” said Vurovecz.

Along with the title of Mrs KZN, Vurovecz was also awarded sponsored beauty and jewellery items.

“With this title and platform I have been given I will now be very involved with the NPO in my year of reign,” promised Vurovecz.
