THE Msunduzi Municipality Mayor Themba Njilo hosted the Msunduzi Youth Summit at the Pietermaritzburg City Hall last week.

The hall was packed to capacity as 1 350 youth attended under the theme “encouraging the spirit of entrepreneurship”.

A panel discussed many issues one of which was how branding can help grow a business.

Ilawu Group owner, Siphiwe Ngcobo, Ukhozi FM station manager Bonga Mpanza, DJ and businessman Mthokozi “Tira” Khathi, managing director at Capital Media, Riquadeu Jacobs and media personality and businesswoman Bonang Matheba, were among the guests.

Khathi, Bonang Matheba and Msunduzi entrepreneurs shared their journey in business and young people engaged and networked for
opportunities to grow their businesses.

“Brand development and sustainability form the core of business therefore it is our duty to drill that into young people’s minds for them to be successful,” said Njilo.

It is for this reason that international DJ and businessman Khathi, better known as “DJ Tira”, and
Matheba formed part of the summit’s programme.

The Msunduzi Youth Summit included outreach programmes designed to highlight available opportunities for the youth in order to address poverty and create jobs, development of entrepreneurial skills and capacity building.
