DREAM Leaders Foundation, a non-profit organisation, is bringing the Face of SA High Schools pageant finals to Pietermaritzburg.The pageant will take place on July 28 at City Hall from 5.30 pm.The pageant, takes place for the first time this year, and is aimed at empowering and exposing the youth to an alternative skill set, apart from academics.Clive Hadebe, who is one of the organisers, said they believe that it is important to bring finals to the City as it will put Maritzburg on the map.“All the big pageant always happen in places such as Durban. We want to show people that we can also do something good in our own city. This is the first time that Pietermaritzburg will hosting the national pageant and we believe that this is going to put our city on the map.”“We also want to use our own talented artists, and for the finals to be held here, it will make things much easier for them because they do not have to travel.“This is also a big opportunity for them to showcase their talents,” he said.Hadebe said they are planning to make the pageant an annual event, to give other young children an opportunity.
