THE seventh annual Face of KZN Model Search Contest was held on Saturday at the Voortrekker/Msunduzi Museum.Twenty-six boys and girls from all over the province of KwaZulu-Natal strutted their stuff in casual wear, swimwear and formal wear as they competed for the coveted title of ambassador for the youth of KZN.Fifteen-year-old Liam Upton, from Chase Valley, and 26 year-old Ntando Mkhwanazi, from Lamontville, Durban were crowned as the main winners. The winners will be doing community work with a non-profit organisation of their choice and rendering motivational talks at schools on social ills that are obstacles to the youth.The social ills that they will focus on are albinism, alcohol and drug abuse, bullying and gangsterism, blessers, racism, road accidents, violence, no sex before marriage, xenophobia, sexually transmitted infections, HIV/ AIDS, and teenage pregnancy. The winners will also attend social events to promote the Face of KZN brand and sponsors.The top three males and females received prizes which were sponsored by Durban Skydive Centre, Bengs Nkosi, Irene’s Model Agency, Pieter Clark Photography, Blu Gel Hair Salon, and CineCentre. The transport was sponsored by Metro Taxis and accommodation by the Love to Live NPO. The Face of KZN Model Search Contest aims to discover new faces to be introduced into the exciting world of modelling and give a platform to upcoming artists who have talents in music, dance, poetry, comedy and drama. — Supplied.
