SWEETWATERS filmmaker Wandile Nkala says it’s his dream to open a film academy for young and upcoming filmmakers in Pietermaritzburg.Nkala, the founder of Film Arts Vision KZN, is currently shooting a film called Almost Married.The film is being shot in different areas, including Sweetwaters, the CBD, Howick, Hilton and Durban, and will be released in June.Speaking to Echo, Nkala could not contain his excitement over his film, stating it will advise viewers about marriage.“In 2014 I tried shooting a film titled 7PM but it was unsuccessful and it was never released, but that did not stop me. I went to work for Department of Arts and Culture and in 2015 I went back to the world of film as this is where my heart has always been.“I am so passionate about storytelling and filmmaking that I want to inspire and teach other people everything that I have learnt over the years,” he said.Nkala said his dream is to have an academy for filmmakers. He already has young filmmakers that he is trains, ha said.“I want these young filmmakers to succeed and make it into the film industry. I have noticed a lot of talent in Pietermaritzburg, some people I would like to recruit personally when I have opened the academy.“I want people who are passionate about filmmaking because I am very passionate. Passion is what drove me not to give up even when my first film failed. I have started this and I am not going to stop,” concluded Nkala.
