NORTHDALE’S Minenhle “Soulsoundx” Mkhize is earning his stripes in the music industry. The 21-year-old is now a resident DJ on The Fresh Cutt on Gagasi FM, sharing the stage with the likes of Prince Kaybee, DJ Happy Gal and others.The former Raisethorpe pupil said he strives to be the best DJ in the world with international club residency. His passion for music dates back to 2014.“I found my passion in 2014 when my friends and I hosted house parties. The response I got from the crowd at these parties fuelled my love for music. “Also, watching videos of DJ Shimza and seeing all the phenomenal things he did when deejaying really sparked interest in me and motivated me,” said Mkhize. Mkhize is a hip hop DJ who plays trap music and hip hop. He said he has come across problems when trying to branch out of his city and hosting events.Although Mkhize is experiencing challenges, he already has plans in place to give back to the community. “Plans to give back to the community are under way.“My team and I have started a non-profit organisation called Young Pioneers. “I founded the NPO with Nduduzo Mdletshe, Mamkeli Mthetheli and Sphumelele Ndlela where we organise career expos, create platforms for artists in Pietermaritzburg and also use the platform to encourage entrepreneurship. We have even bigger plans for this project that we can’t wait to take to the community,” said Mkhize.Soulsoundx is currently pushing his single called Arriverderci which features Remi Young, Your Crew and Trap Sosa.
