THE association’s chairperson, Muhammad Khan, said the aim and objective for this association is to promote unity among and within its members. “We want to promote road safety among our members, employees and commuters; ensure fair labour practices by its members and proper conduct of public transport and businesses. We want to take care of the community’s needs, which is very important,” he said.Khan said plans to develop structures and procedures to enable the commuting public to communicate their dissatisfaction regarding all transport facilities and services are also on the cards. “With the launch of this association we want to show that we are not in competition with each other but we are here to compliment each other’s services. “We are here to work together. We are here to make things easier for the commuters. We are here to take over the meter taxi industry.”Khan said they will also launch a new app that the community will use to request a meter taxi.
