THE KZN Top Model 2017 winner, Karell Munsamy (18), is giving people the opportunity to showcase their modelling talent and passion of working for the community in a new pageant “White” (WoMen Holistically Interacting to Empower).

The pageant will be launched on February 24 at Eddels Sports and Social Club in PMB.

The joining fee for the pageant is R150 per person.

The pageant is not only about modelling, she is also looking for ambassadors that will work with her to help those in rural KZN areas.

“It is more like a fund-raising event because the money raised on the day will be used to create jobs for the youth, assisting non-profit organisations in rural areas and teaching the youth about drugs.”

Munsamy said the idea came to her after she realised the youth, especially those from rural areas, don’t have confidence.

“This is the first time I am doing this. My aim is to give back to the communities of KwaZulu-Natal and give the youth opportunities to empower others.

“This is will be an annual provincial event. I want to give the youth an opportunity to express themselves and deal with the things they take for granted everyday,” she said.

Her mother Desiree said she is proud of her daughter and will be with her every step of the way.

“This will help children and the youth deviate from doing wrong; such as using drugs and unwanted pregnancies.

“It will also help abused children in rural areas who do not know where to report it or what to do about it,” she said.

Munsamy will work with KZN Top Model management in launching this pageant.
