Passengers trapped in M70 collision

NETCARE 911 paramedics responded to a collision along the M70 in Pietermaritzburg on Saturday.

Reports from the scene indicate that a car and a light delivery van collided head-on.

Paramedics found the front passenger of the car was trapped in the twisted frame of the vehicle.

After the injured were examined, it was established that three people from the car sustained serious injuries, the driver of the LDV sustained minor injuries, but refused treatment.

Firefighters used the jaws of life to free the injured while medics worked fervently to stabilise them.

All the injured were transported by ambulance to a government hospital in Pietermaritzburg. - Supplied.
