Patchay laid to rest

2019-04-10 06:01

THE Eastwood Hall played host to hundreds of people on Saturday as former member of the notorious Cash Money Brothers gang, Shane Patchay, was laid to rest after he was gunned down by two men outside his home in Patrys Road, Eastwood two weeks ago.

Community members showed up in vast numbers to pay their respects to a man they deemed a community hero for the service and efforts he gave to his local neighbourhood.

Various important public figures were present at the memorial such as Minister of Tourism Derek Hanekom as well as some ANC officials.

Those who spoke on Patchay said that his life was riddled with tough times and the things he was notorious of doing were a result of circumstance but that they would remember him in good spirits for all the acts of good that he had done in his lifetime.

Though Patchay carried a notorious reputation with him while alive, many people believed that he had put those things aside and was a reformed member of society intent on righting his wrongs through his generosity to the community.

Police have confirmed that no arrests have been made yet regarding his shooting.
