PCH to host fund-raising braai and dance

THE Pietermaritzburg Children’s Home (PCH) will host a fund-raising braai and dance on October 21 at Club Woodlander at 5.30pm for 6pm.

This event is aimed at bringing together families and at the same time help a charity.

Tickets are R100 per person, which includes braai pack, rolls and salad. All money raised will go to PCH.

PCH general manager Fiona Balgobind said that through the event they want to raise awareness about the work PHC does and let people know how they can assist.

“We have held events before, but this time we decided to do something social so we can reach a large number of people, and we will also have children representing PHC.

“We want to give the people of Pietermaritzburg an opportunity to socialise.

We are 131 years old this year and want people to know this. This event will help us reach people because many don’t know where we are.

“We need the support of the community to continue and help the children of Pietermaritzburg.”

She said they are also looking for sponsors and if the event is successful they will mark it on their calendar as an annual event.

“People can sponsor anything that will help on the day because there are many things we have to pay for.”

Balgobind said they would also like people to assist with their time, not only money or items.

“We have lot of children who need host parents, and even if it only for one day or weekend, that will help.”
