HEATHER Secondary pupil, Sheshan Pillay, placed 35th in Africa while representing his country at the 49th International Physics Olympiad (IPHO) held in Portugal recently.

Reflecting on his experience on an international level, Sheshan said that he was happy with his efforts but was not entirely content, saying he will be looking to do better in the near future.

“It was an honour to represent my continent on the international stage and to be part of the team.

“I gave it my all, and am happy knowing that I did so, but I will look to improve on this in the upcoming future events,” Sheshan said.

Sheshan’s principal, Darrel John, hailed the efforts of their pupil, saying: “Our school congratulates Sheshan for his efforts and we are very proud of him.

“He has brought great honour to the school and his family in the process.”

Sheshan said that he had been preparing for the Olympiad since February, doing various higher institution physics examples.

He now looks to prepare for his national senior certificate examinations.

“It was a bit overwhelming and I did my best to prepare but now I will look towards my final exams,” said Sheshan.
