JUNIOR Ngidi will host a picnic at Alexandra Park on Saturday, November 25, to raise awareness about the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children initiative.

Every year from November 25 the country commemorates 16 days of activism against women and children abuse and Ngidi’s picnic will coincide with the campaign.

“We want to raise awareness about the 16 days of activism against women and children abuse, and use entertainment to spread this message,” Ngidi said.

He said one of the messages at the picnic will be that at this time of the year, the festive season, there is an increase in the number of people who drink alcohol, which correlates to an increase in women and children abuse.

“That is why alcohol will not be sold at the picnic and we will ensure there are no drugs.”

He said the aim of this event is to bring people of different races and genders together and unify them through music.

The picnic, which Ngidi said has been organised in collaboration with The Last Adam and Hlomani Leadership Awakening, will start at 10am until 6pm.

Picnic attendees will be entertained
by local artists in various genres, including maskandi, gospel, R&B and Afro-pop, and artists and deejays will come up from Durban.

“There will also be a fashion and car show as well,” Ngidi said.

He said picnic-goers can also support the event by voluntarily donating R20.
