BELIEVING that all great things begin with small steps, Denise Carolus opened the doors of Pitter Patter Preschool on July 9 for admissions in 2020.

Highlighting the role of a parent in all phases of a child’s life, Carolus said that teacher involvement is also a crucial part of a child growing up.

“A child’s life is like a piece of paper on which every person leaves a mark, therefore who is teaching your child is important and crucial,” she said, adding that her classroom will encourage independent and group work, while also catering for specific age groups with specifically designed classrooms.

Carolus said that Pitter Patter offers various educational programmes such as the following.

• Nature experiments, with observations of the natural and social world to encourage curiosity.

• Outdoor discovery time for classroom learning.

• Age-appropriate books to be read aloud and time for the children to engage with books individually.

• Children can develop their writing skills with paint brushes, crayons, pencils, arts and crafts.

• Fine motor skills development where children manipulate small objects and work with play dough and do lacing, and colour large and small objects.

• The theory of music and playing musical instruments will be taught by an accomplished musician.

• There will be indoor and outdoor play for physical health, mental well-being and cognitive and social development. • Both English and isiZulu will be offered but “English will be the standard language that the children will be taught in,” said Carolus.

“We also encourage fantasy play for the children’s imagination,” she said.

The school fee structure is affordable. To book an appointment to visit Pitter Patter Preschool, phone 071 139 6526.

Pitter Patter Preschool is situated at 388 Boom Street with a secure environment for the children.
