LOCAL model Denelle Ince was crowned second princess at the Miss India South Africa International 2016 pageant at the Durban City Hall at the weekend.

Ince has been in the modelling industry for seven years and has made her mark in Pietermaritzburg, holding titles including Miss Teen Pietermaritzburg 2012, Saree Queen 2012 and 2013 and as the face of Singh’s Studio.

She has also been awarded the Poise Model of the Year and has auditioned for Zee TV.

Ince was placed second in the category of Best Hat at last year’s Durban July for designer Yasmin Saanglae and was subsequently featured on the SABC 3 morning show Espresso.

“I am humbled with the achievements I have accomplished thus far. After weeks of rehearsals and all the work I put in, I am indeed proud. I would like to thank my family, friends and sponsors for their support and Pietermaritzburg as a whole for their excitement and optimism through this win.

“I am indeed highly favoured and I stand proud to say that without the mighty God I serve, I am nothing. This is by far one of my greatest achievements and being the only finalist from Pietermaritzburg,” said Ince.

She said although she did not win the crown she is not discouraged.

“I wish to inspire the youth and remind them that these titles I hold are not just for the overwhelming fame, but are to be used in ways that better the lives of the less fortunate.”

Ince is studying an LLB degree and hopes to transform realities and empower society.

“I pride myself in paying attention to those the world pushes aside. When you do for others what they cannot do for themselves, you will never lack the favour of God. I am always inspired by a quote by Joel Osteen, ‘your destiny is not determined by your critics. Focus on running your own race’. You have the power of becoming someone else’s miracle,” said Ince. - Supplied.
