PMB model Simiso Mlangeni (20), was crowned 1st prince at the 2017 uShaka Marine World pageant on Saturday, October 21.

“I was very nervous throughout the entire pageant because competition was tight, but even so I was happy to make it to the finals, which was a great achievement, so making it to the top three was a bonus,” said Mlangeni.

He said after this he looks forward to taking part in bigger competitions and hopes to venture into commercial modelling.

Ace Dlamini from Intsha Yom- zansi Academy, the agency that Mlangeni is under, said he has what it takes to make it as a commercial model.

He said Pietermaritzburg was not only represented by Mlangeni, but also by Noluthando Dlamini, the reigning Greater Edendale Mall queen and the first princess at the recent Face of KZN competition.

“Thando was a finalist at uShaka and I believe she can make it as a commercial model.

“Even though she did not make it to the top three this year this was her year considering all the crowns she has won.

“The uShaka competition was a great confidence booster for both of them,” Ace said.

Dlamini said taking part at the pageant was a great learning experience, which proves there is a lot more they can achieve.
