SA Idols and South African Music Awards winner Khaya Mthethwa will perform at this year’s “In His Presence” gospel music and pre-Easter celebration on 19 March at the Royal Showgrounds from 5pm.

Mthethwa will share the stage with award-winning gospel music stars Benjamin Dube, Dube Bothers, Ntokozo Mbambo, Andile KaMajola and Ayanda Ntanzi.

Gospel talent search winners, The Revelation, will also perform at the event.

The event is hosted by OGatsheni Entertainment, the UMgungundlovu District Municipality, Department of Arts and Culture, Department of Community Safety and Liaison, Department of Transport, Maritzburg Echo and UMgungundlovu FM.

Sthembiso Ndlovu from OGatsheni Entertainment said that the event has been running in Pietermaritzburg for the last five years.

“Born and bred in Pietermaritzburg, this event is for the youth. It is gratifying to see local artists sharing the stage with established and award-winning gospel stars. My dream is to see those local artists become the epitome of the gospel music genre.

“The event is about giving young people hope,” said Ndlovu.

Ndlovu self-funded the early stages of the event, but as time went on he joined forces with stakeholders.

He said the event will be for praising and instilling a conscience in people’s hearts.

“We promise the event will start at 5pm and the technical team will be on guard to make sure that the sound is smooth at all times.

“This is not only an event for Pietermaritzburg, it is an event for people who love gospel music, for people who want to praise,” said Ndlovu.
