SAPS Mountain Rise Detective Service is busy investigating a case of housebreaking and theft which occurred in the area at the weekend.

According to Mountain Rise Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Joshua Maistry, the complainant locked her premises on Saturday, set the alarm and went home.

“On Monday morning, when she opened for business, she discovered that the cash register had been tampered with and an amount of R70 000 had been taken,” said Maistry, who added that the complainant then went to view the footage on her shop camera and discovered that an African male had been on the premises over the weekend at around 9.25 pm.

“The person identified in the photo [right] can assist police in their investigation.

“Police are making an appeal to members of the community with positive information with regards to his whereabouts, to please contact the investigating officer, Sydney
