THE Mountain Rise police successfully caught and apprehended a man believed to be involved in an incident last Monday when he allegedly shot at a man three times in an attempt to rob the man’s family. Members of the police station warrant officers Shaun Naidoo and Rueben Naidoo and constables NH Duma and Stieger arrested the man on Birmingham Road near the Jesmondene informal settlement and found him to be in possession of an unlicensed firearm along with drugs to the street value of R300. Upon further investigations, police found that the man and the firearm were linked to a shooting that occurred on Allandale Drive. The man allegedly shot at the complainant three times in an attempted murder incident and had then fled the scene. The Station Commander of SAPS Mountain Rise, Brigadier Boxer Pillay, praised the members for their excellent work done.Speaking to a close member of the family, Maritzburg Fever was told that the complainant’s family was left shaken since the incident.“We do not know what happened, we just sit in fear now,” said the member. The suspect was detained in the Mountain Rise Police station holding cells and will appear in court shortly.
