THIS year’s potential champions, Raisemed Swerve, went up against defending champions, Tequila Tanglers in the KZN Pool District League showdown. The game lived up to expectations, but true to the nature of sport, there was only going to be one winner.

As league players flocked in from all parts of the district, the game got under-way and unlike round one, this time it was Raisemed Swerve that started with a bang, going 4-0 within 15 minutes. Tanglers did all their talking off the table while Swerve answered all their questions on the table.

Halfway through the game it was 9-6 to Raisemed Swerve, with Merlin Naidoo and Yulan Govender in sizzling form.

As they approached the last session, Tanglers seemed to be tangled in a mixture of top performances and outstanding team spirit from the opposing team.

The cherry was put on the cake when Tangler’s Shameel Singh lost to Swerve’s Edwin Ngcobo.

Raisemed Swerve had done it again, beating Tequila Tanglers 1-10 maintaining their unbeaten record in the league.

The pool league fell short of expectations as everyone expected Raisemed Swerve to weaken after losing one of their top performers, Sudesh Sookay, who suffered an injury in the round-one game, but it seems that the words of motivation from captain, Elvin Naidoo, are making the team appear immortal. - Supplied.
