THE Pietermaritzburg Food Festival (PMB Food Fest), PMB’s premier lifestyle event, returns to the Golden Horse Casino this year.

If you thought last year’s event was big, brace yourself as this year’s festival promises to be bigger and better.

The event is scheduled to take place on October 5 from 10 am to 11 pm.

The PMB Food Fest is a food and music lifestyle event that celebrates South African diversity and culture through food and music.

Businesses in the food and beverage industries will be afforded an opportunity to showcase various cuisines and drinks to the visitors who attend the festival to celebrate diversity.

Last year’s event attracted more than a thousand visitors from all walks of life. As organisers, we were happy with the numbers as it was a debut event and the feedback from patrons was overwhelming.

This year our visitors can look forward to an even bigger and better event.

They will be treated to a variety of dishes prepared by professional chefs and caterers and more than 50 stalls are expected to showcase their culinary experience. The dishes expected to be served include: gourmet food, pastries, finger food, traditional cuisine, pizzas, spit braais, potjie kos, sushi, deserts, various meat dishes, vegetarian meals, smoothies, and much more.

This year’s feature in the drinks section is an exciting Shampompo Village and a Gin Bar where lovers of gin and champagne can pour a glass while they continue to walk around and enjoy the festival.

We cannot forget to mention that lovers of cocktails, craft beer and wine will also be spoilt for choice.

A general beer garden will also be set up where visitors can quench their thirst with cider, beer and spirits.

This year we are quite excited to welcome our official radio partner, East Coast Radio, who will make it possible for the festival news to reach the broader community.

East coast Radio is a trusted brand in the media industry and our partnership means that the PMB food Fest will reach even greater heights.

Another partnership that is worth mentioning is BMW Supertech Pietermaritzburg. They have made it possible that, everywhere the festival goes, it rocks up in style. We are grateful for our partnership and we are very proud that even this year PMB Food Festival will be proudly driven by BMW Supertech.

We also would like to mention Golden Horse Casino for partnering with us in providing a world-class facility to host the festival. We know that they are also a trusted brand in hosting world class events; they have hosted the Comrades Marathon, which is always a huge success. We are grateful to Golden Horse for making it possible to have such a great event on their premises.

This year, we have ensured that the festival has something for everyone.

If you are a shopaholic, your needs will be taken care of. We are setting up a pop-up fashion and craft village where more than 20 fashion and craft stalls will be selling their products to provide visitors an unforgettable shopping experience.

If you happen to like trying new recipes, be sure not to miss the food demo kitchen. This will be a special feature to the event, allowing chefs to demonstrate their culinary skills.

The event will surely be an experience for the whole family as the kiddie’s village will be packed with exciting activities including rides, jumping castles and kiddies games. Parents can leave their children in the kiddie’s village while they walk around the stalls for some retail therapy.

What would a festival be without music? Music enthusiasts will be glued to the main stage as we bring you top bands, national artists and DJs that will keep you dancing to the rhythm all day long.

In case you are wondering who our artists are, follow us on our social media pages as we will be revealing our line-up leading to the event. Follow us on Facebook at Pietermaritzburg Food Festival and on Instagram @PMBFoodFest.

The gates will open from 10 am until late. Early bird tickets cost R100 and can be purchased via Computicket. Tickets will cost R120 at the gate.

The festival is organised by Chilla Nathi Concepts in partnership with One Nation, which is a mother body for Broadway Lifestyle. Both companies are no strangers to the entertainment and lifestyle events scene. The organisers have invested their time, financial resources and efforts to ensure that the event becomes a success.

Those who wish to participate in the festival can book stalls or suites via e-mail at info@pmbfoodfestival.co.za or call us at 079 786 1723 / 083 382 8822 — Supplied
