PROJECT Gateway will be running a Heritage Month event this September through a flea market whereby the entrepreneurs of the school as well as external entrepreneurs will have their goods on display and for sale.

From an apartheid prison used to break the spirits of those who fought against the oppressive regime to a church based, non-profit organisation serving the city of Pietermaritzburg and surrounding areas, Project Gateway has seen a remarkable change.

Previously entrapping famous political stalwarts such as Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi when it was a prison, Project Gateway now seeks to equip and empower the local people of Pietermaritzburg through enterprise, education and care activities.

“We aim to run effective and dynamic programmes which focus on changing lives and impacting communities,” said Nokuthula Ndlovu, who is in charge of sales.

“Our world class, state of the art digital museum that captures the rich history of our organisation will be open for tours concurrently with the flea market at R20 a person with discounted rates for pensioners and children under 18,” said Ndlovu.
