Raising funds for animal rescue

PUPILS of Raisethorpe Secondary School in collaboration with Pietermaritzburg Animal Rescue and Rehome (PARR) will be hosting A Great Cause for Paws Variety Concert on October 3 at the Truro Hall.

The concert is aimed at raising funds for PARR and also showcase the pupils creativity and talents.

PARR is a non-profit animal rescue organisation that was started by a group of passionate animal-loving individuals with full-time employment, with the primary goal of rescuing, rehabilitating, sterilising and rehoming stray and abandoned animals.

Concert organiser Tarin Chetty said the school chose to raise funds for Rescue and Rehome because it’s a young organisation.

“Because what PARR does in our community is very significant, all proceeds from ticket sales will go towards funding the foundation for abandoned and abused animals,” said Chetty.

“Raisethorpe Secondary School pupils have given up their time and effort to showcase their creative and amazing talents for this worthy cause.”

Organisers urge the public to support the event and witness the pupils’ hard work.

“Pupils have been preparing for this event since June so it would be worth it to them if people came through and showed them a bit of support,” said Chetty.

Tickets to the concert cost R50 and are available at PARR. For more information on the concert, contact Chetty at 076 857 2847.
