PIETERMARITZBURG’s Judy Umraw received an award at the KZN Women of Wonder (WOW) Awards for 2018 on Saturday, October 20, at the iZulu Theatre at Sibaya Casino, Durban.

Known for promoting the welfare of others throughout Pietermaritzburg and beyond, Umraw also runs a dance school which helps establish a sense of confidence and self-belief in young women.

The WOW Awards are held in recognition of women who are actively involved in their community and who selflessly devote their time and efforts to empower and uplift them.

“I am honoured and humbled to be awarded at this prestigious awards event and would like to encourage other women and the youth to engage and become more involved in community initiatives,” said Umraw.

Umraw said that every little gesture by people can make a difference.

She also strives to inspire and motivate the community, especially women and the youth.

By winning this award, Umraw is also in line to be awarded at the African Women of Power Leadership Conference, being held in Mauritius at the end of the month, where she is a presenter.
