THE Pietermaritzburg Regional Court sentenced Morgan Mvikeli
Philip Dlamini (23) to 14 years imprisonment for rape and kidnapping that took place at KwaMagoda, Richmond on December 20, 2015.

The 21-year-old victim and friends were coming from a local tavern on their way home when she was approached by Dlamini who grabbed her hair and pulled out a knife.

He then forced her to go with him to house where he raped at her gunpoint.

A case of rape was opened at Richmond police station and the docket was transferred to Plessislaer Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit for further investigation that led to the arrest of the accused.

Dlamini made several court appearances until he was convicted and sentenced.

“We will make sure that those who abuse women in our community instead protecting them are prosecuted.

“We urge the community to report any sexual abuse incidents to the police so the culprits can face the full might of law,” said the KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bheki Langa. - Supplied.
