IRRITATED motorists and residents are calling on Msunduzi Municipality to urgently fix “appalling roads” in some parts of the city and residential areas.According to a resident on Connor Road in Chasedene, the road has been riddled with potholes since August 2019.“The basic services at Connor Road require urgent attention. One has to drive from one side of the roadway to the other in an attempt to dodge the potholes,” said the resident, adding that they have also had no street lights since October 2019; further highlighting that without street lights, it is impossible to dodge the potholes at night. “Emails were forwarded to the respective municipal departments regularly. The potholes were reported on September 14, 2019 and the street lights on November 12, 2019, but we still haven’t had a response. Will authorities please attend to this menace urgently,” said the resident. Also, Willowton Road has been in shambles since September 2019. On Willowton, drivers say they have to navigate their way around potholes as they run the risk of damaging their vehicles. A part of Orthman Road was fixed over the festive season, but some drivers still claim the situation is deteriorating. When Fever visited Orthman, Connor and Willowton roads, some parts of these roads are still in a mess. An inquiry was sent to the Msunduzi spokesperson, Thobeka Mafumbatha, however, a response from her was not received at the time of going to print.
