FOUR armed men stormed an electrical contracting busi-ness on Poinsettia Road in Cleland on Monday and made off with domestic electric house meters worth over R20 000.

The suspects allegedly held
the security guard at Technifact Electrical Contractor at gunpoint at around 4am while they ransacked the warehouse.

The security guard, Mandlenkosi Ndlovu, said the armed men pointed a firearm at him and demanded that he produce the keys to the warehouse.

“I told them I didn’t have the keys to the warehouse.

“One pointed a firearm at me while the other three men broke the lock at the warehouse.”

Ndlovu said when the men were done they released him before fleeing.

“I couldn’t see what they took at the time because it was still dark.

“But we established that they took two boxes containing 12 house meters each.”

Business owner Tex Duvenhage said it was difficult to say what else was taken during the robbery because they were in the process of moving in.

“... Everything is still upside down and we can’t say what else was stolen.

“The incident was very traumatic for the security guard who was held at gunpoint,” he said.

Pietermaritzburg police spokesperson Sergeant Mthokozisi Ngobese said police are investi-
gating a case of business robbery.
