Robbery and theft suspect sought by police

POLICE are looking for a suspect in connection with a house robbery and car theft at 4am in Edendale on November 16.

“Two suspects entered a residence and stole a number of items, which they loaded into a Nissan 1400 bakkie that was parked outside,” Plessislaer SAPS spokesperson Captain Musa Ntombela said.

He said before the suspects left with the bakkie one raped two women who were sleeping in separate rooms in the house.

“At about 6.10am on the same day, the Nissan 1400 was spotted at KwaPata location,” he said. He said police were alerted and they went there.

“One suspect managed to get away, but one, aged 20, was arrested and some of the stolen items recovered.”

The Plessislaer Station Commander Mduduzi Shezi commended the officers for their swift response. The 20-year-old appeared in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s Court on November 20.

At the time of going to press his court appearance result was unavailable.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the second suspect must contact the Plessislaer SAPS on 033 398 9730.
