SA collab a global hit

2017-03-01 06:00

ONE of SA’s top house DJs, Euphonik, along with fellow house contemporaries Mi Casa, have yet again proved themselves as chart-topping luminaries reaching eight times platinum status with the mega-hit,Don’t Wanna Be Your Friend.

The single, which debuted in December 2015, instantly reached the iTunes’ top 3, after which it shot to number one on all SA’s major radio station playlists and then became the most Shazamed song in South Africa with 5,5 million downloads, thus securing its official place as the most downloaded song of 2015/2016. The hit still continues to flourish.

Internationally, Euphonik and Mi Casa’s collaboration on the single has garnered them great acclaim, igniting dance floors the world over from Miami to Ibiza, and most recently Australia when it hit the Melbourne airwaves with chart-topping results.

“It’s every artist’s dream to receive international recognition. I’m honoured to have had the opportunity to collaborate with award-winning African artists such as Mi Casa and to take this unique sound experience to a global level,” said Euphonik. “Persistence and talent always pay off, but ultimately I’m humbled by this achievement and would not have been able to do this without my amazing fans.”

Mi Casa frontman J’Something added: “What a milestone for us. A huge thank you to all our fans. We are nothing without people.”

Euphonik’s fans can look forward to two new singles — in collaboration with top African artists — set to drop next month as well as a brand-new album at the end of March. — Supplied.
