SAIFA launches Futsal league

2019-05-29 06:01

THE fifth edition of the National Futsal League hosted by the South African Indoor Football Association (SAIFA) is set to reach new heights in the 2019 season, and the Launch of the National Futsal League will take place on Friday, May 24 at YMCA, Pietermaritzburg, commencing at 5 pm.

This season’s league fixtures will be played in a festival format over two days with a total of five festivals in five cities and six matches per each festival.

The competition, which is made possible by partnerships with the 2010 Fifa World Cup Legacy Trust and the South African Football Association, features six franchises from around the country.

“We are indeed grateful to Safa and the 2010 Fifa World Cup Legacy Trust for the grant in the sum of R2 million, which is evident of Safa’s commitment to the development and growth of Futsal in our country” said SAIFA president Poobalan Govindasamy.

“All six clubs in the league have shown tremendous desire over the past four seasons. We are very excited to see how this season’s competition unfolds,” SAIFA secretary-general Ebrahim Hossen said.

“The standard and level of play has increased significantly since our first season. So much so that it is difficult to predict a league winner,” he added.

We hereby extend an open invitation to all, especially our Futsal fans, to the YMCA in Pietermaritzburg. Entry is free. There are three matches on Friday and three on Saturday.
