MARITZBURG Saints Football Club (MSFC) celebrated their fifth anniversary on Saturday, December 1.

MSFC boast players of previously disadvantaged groups and from as far out as Greytown and the Greater Edendale areas.

The club held their prize giving ceremony on the night, commemorating their remarkable achievements in 2018. These included third-place league finish at Collegians over-35 and thirrd-place finish at a tournament hosted by Leicester City, sporting mainly ex-professional players. MSFC finished undefeated at this tournament and their striker won the top goal scorer award. They were runners up at the annual tournament hosted by Lenham Sporting in Phoenix. Here again their striker won the top goal scorer award and winners of the over-35 annual Easter tournament hosted by Hillview Football Club.

Manager Preggy Pillay said whilst at the outset the club were formed mainly to build friendships across the various ethnic groups, it has become evident that the club have admirable potential to do well wherever they compete.

MSFC thank all players, members, sponsors and supporters for their loyal support and dedication in 2018. They wish all communities well over the festive season and a prosperous 2019. — Supplied.
