SAPS seek parents of abandoned child

PIETERMARITZBURG’s Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit and SAPS Harburg are requesting assistance from the community in locating the parents of an abandoned child.

Mountain Rise Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Joshua Maistry said Pietermaritz­burg’s FCS unit and SAPS Harburg are busy investigating a case where a child was found abandoned outside Entuthukweni Creche in Ozwathini, Appelsbosch, on October 1.

“Police are making an urgent appeal to members of the public with positive information, people who are aware of or know of someone who gave birth to a baby boy between September 24 and September 26, to contact the police urgently,” said Maistry.

The community can contact the investigating officer, Constable Nkosikhona Mshengu, at 033 845 2619 or 076 113 4717 with regards to any information.
