School receives much needed donation

2018-07-25 06:00

THE Hayfields Primary School received a healthy contribution of funds from the Hayfields Mall last Tuesday as the Hayfields Mall commemorated Mandela Day.

Embarking on the SA Corporate Retail portfolio initiative, the mall identified Hayfields Primary as a school within the community that needed assistance in accordance of the Support Our Schools (SOS) initiative.

In light of this, the mall donated R 5 000 to the local school for the upliftment of its students.

The school, which opened in 2014, is fairly new and was opened by Olwyn Nieman under the guidance of SEM Mxolisi Mncwabe.

At the school, students are nurtured by a wealth of knowledge which is bestowed on them by loving and dedicated teachers.

One of the main problem areas which was highlighted by the school, and recognised by the mall, was that the school library was in desperate need of restocking.

Hayfields Mall rallied together to support this cause by donating R 5000 to the school, thus establishing and strengthening the relationship going forward.

The funds will be used to purchase new books for the library which will be available for students to learn from and enjoy.

Any members of the community looking to offer assistance in any form can contact Gael Lawrence on 033 396 5174.
