WITH just two weeks left to the much anticipated South African Music Conference to be held in Pietermaritzburg at the Winston Churchill Theatre, several sponsors have rallied behind the conference scheduled for 29 June.

Fano Gumede of Fanotainment said they have a few sponsors on board who have committed to make the conference a success.

“The conference has attracted a lot of sponsors who have come on board to ensure it is a success. We have uMgungundlovu District Municipality, Echo newspaper, Nduru Studios and 033 Lifestyle that have so far agreed to assist us in making this conference a reality,” he said.

Sending a message of support to the conference organisers UMgungundlovu District Mayor Yusuf Bhamjee said, “As Government, we are assisting all our citizens to rise above their socio-economic challenges with empowerment and ensuring all citizens meaningfully participate in various development programmes we offer”.

The conference organised by Deejays Unite (DJU) and Fanotainment is open to deejays, producers, artists, song writers, event organisers and industry enthusiasts who are interested in obtaining more knowledge about the music industry and learning how they can turn their craft into a business.

“We are inviting everyone within the industry from Pietermaritzburg and surrounding areas to please attend the conference, we are bringing in industry greats to come and share the secrets of their success and give guidance where needed,” said Gumede.

The conference is scheduled to start at 9am and registration forms are available from DOT COM internet cafe on 210 Langalibalele Street (Longmarket Street) opposite African bank. Forms will also be available at 033 Lifestyle Fridays to Sundays between 4pm and 6pm. Registration is free but industry delegates are requested to bring R5 to print out forms. After filling in the forms, artists are requested to leave them behind. The conference will only accommodate 200 people, so it is important for artists to register.
